From February to May 2014, leading UK construction, asset management and project investment company Graham played host to the Stay Active Challenge as part of its commitment to the health and wellbeing of its employees. Throughout this unique corporate event employees in the UK wore the iAM, the latest in activity monitor technology, and competed to increase their activity levels as much as possible over an 11-week challenge.

On average Graham employees increased their activity levels by a life changing 121%, making them significantly more active than the average UK company. On average UK workers spend 19% of their time in activity, while Graham employees now typically spend 21% of their time in activity. During the Challenge, Graham employees collectively burnt 12 million calories, equivalent to over 25,000 Big Macs.

The company’s managers were impressed by the way the Challenge helped bring employees together across the company and foster a culture of friendly competition. HR Advisor Stacey Holmes said, “With a big focus on fun and utilising advanced technology, the challenge supported and encouraged participants to lead a healthier and more active lifestyle. This has been instrumental in our Health & Wellbeing initiative as a company and we are pleased we participated and would highly recommend it to others.”

The inventively named winning teams, Panda-Monium and Team McTrim, achieved an outstanding 326% increase in daily activity and the individual winner, Raymond Gregg, increased his activity levels by over 800%.

David Moorcroft, iGlobalWellness' Chairman said – “Graham's huge achievements in the Stay Active Challenge are testament to how simple and effective incorporating activity into daily routine can be. The significant increases in daily activity levels illustrate that every activity counts and that everybody, no matter what their current fitness level, can benefit from the Stay Active Challenge. iGlobalWellness would like to say a huge thank you and well done to everybody at Graham for the outstanding effort they put into the Challenge. It is fantastic to see how they have incorporated such positive changes into their daily routines and we wish them all the best with their new healthier lifestyles.”
