HINGHAM, Mass. - Sept. 3, 2014 - PRLog -- The Pat Roche Hospice Home and NVNA and Hospice were recently honored by Fox 25 TV and DCU (Digital Federal Credit Union) for making a difference in the community.

The NVNA and Hospice staff and Pat Roche Hospice Home volunteers were awarded a “Hometown Hero” award for their selfless contributions to the community during the Fox 25 Zip Trip morning segment set in Hingham.

NVNA and Hospice CEO Meg Doherty was interviewed live for the August 31st morning segment and accepted the award on behalf of the Pat Roche Hospice Home’s volunteers and professional staff. Fox 25 Co-host Shannon Mulaire presented the award.

Located at 86 Turkey Hill Road in Hingham, the 12-bed non-profit hospice residence is open to anyone qualified to receive hospice services who cannot remain within their own home for end-of-life care. The NVNA Hospice Team provides the same level of care to patients living in the hospice residence as they do to patients living in their own homes. The focus of care is on providing physical, emotional, social and spiritual support for patients and their families. Patients have their own private room with bathroom, and can share common areas where family can gather and visit, such as library, tea room, a family lounge area with full kitchen, outside porch, and spectacular surrounding grounds.

“We are honored to have been selected for the award and to bring awareness to the community of the wonderful work that our professional staff and volunteers do on behalf of patients and their families,” said Doherty. “The Pat Roche Hospice Home is a peaceful, special place for patients on end-of-life care and the home is being well used by families in our South Shore community.”
