Australian novelist becomes Library For All’s newest Author Ambassador

 
MANHATTAN, N.Y. - Sept. 2, 2014 - PRLog -- Australian novelist and youth psychiatrist, Brendan Murphy is delighted have become an Author Ambassador for Library For All, a New York based non-profit organisation committed to providing digital books to the developing world. Library For All’s vision is to unlock knowledge to the 250 million children worldwide still not learning basic reading, writing and arithmetic. Bringing together high-quality resources from major publishers and open educational resource providers, the cloud-based Library is device agnostic and can be accessed though low-cost tablets and mobile phones.

As an Author Ambassador, Brendan Murphy will work with Library For All’s Australian Director to help raise awareness of its campaigns, including hosting one of its sponsored global Read-a-thons in Melbourne. A portion of proceeds from sales of his six-book YA fantasy series Sebastian and the Hibernauts will be donated to Library For All. In the first instalment, Beyond the Gloaming, a cowardly Yorkshire lad must brave the ghostly Gloaming if he is to save the Celtic dreamworld of his ancestors. The book introduces Hibercadia, a world brimful of hunkypunks and gobbleratches, quizzing glasses and shillelaghs, mechanical fireworks and night rainbows, tragedy and joy.
