Sheriff Arpaio and the MSCO: Keep your Promise to the Gilbert 23

APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. - Aug. 28, 2014 - PRLog -- Apache Junction AZ, August 28, 2014:  Scott and Cara Prior, candidates for the Arizona Legislature in Legislative District 16, are asking that Sheriff Joe Arpaio and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office keep their promise to the families of the 23 dogs that tragically lost their lives at the Green Acres Boarding facility in Gilbert Arizona.

  “Sheriff Joe Arpaio gave his word to the people of Arizona that he would investigate and prosecute to the letter of the law, regardless of the political and family ties of the owners of Green Acres Boarding Facility.  It has now been over 2 months since the tragedy took place, and we are no closer now to have any type of real information than we were when the investigation started”, says Mr. Prior.  “It is now taking on the appearance that the investigation is being drawn out so that public awareness and attention will decrease, and the whole issue will be swept under the rug.  One can only assume at this point that political pressure has come to bear to prevent any real commitment to completing this investigation with the filing of criminal charges for Animal Cruelty against those directly involved with this tragedy.”

  “I don’t see how it could not be considered Animal Cruelty” says Mrs. Prior.  “When you take 20+ dogs and put them in a room overnight without adequate food, water and ventilation; that is cruelty.  When you refuse to call for a Veterinarian when dogs are lying on the ground dying and you are not trained to give medical attention; that is cruelty.  This whole situation could have been completely avoided had the owners of Green Acres not put those dogs in that small room in the first place”.

  “It is important that we keep this tragedy in the public’s view, and send the message that any businesses or individuals that exploits and/or abuses animals just to make a profit will not be allowed.  It is time to start working together to prevent this from ever happening again” says Mr. Prior.  “We are counting on Sheriff Arpaio and the MCSO to keep the promise made to Arizona and the families that lost their loved ones.”
