Responsive websites, the way forward for Private Investigators?

By: Private Detectives Corporation

LONDON - Aug. 27, 2014 - PRLog -- The Private Detectives Corporation have been monitoring a continued rise in people accessing their website via mobile phones for some time, more recently the statistics from Google Analytics were telling them that the split between customers viewing the site was 50/50 between those accessing it via a desktop/laptop computer and those using a mobile or tablet device.

Twelve months ago a lot of time and effort was put into updating their old website and since that time the investigators answering enquiries have often been pleased to receive compliments from new clients about the look, feel and content of the new look site. At that time, while consideration was given to ever increasing mobile users there was no clear way forward, some sites were creating wholly separate websites for their mobile users while others were doing nothing at all.

Looking at how the trend of mobile usage is continuing and ever increasing though the Investigators at the Private Detectives Corporation understood that in order to their website to best deliver information about their services to new clients and customers they needed to act and to act quickly.

As they, like many of their clients, were happy with the current layout the decision was made to have a brand new website created with the same style, look and features as the current Private Detectives Corporation website, but which would also be adaptive to screen size and device and so more accessible and easy to use by those browsing it on tablets and phones.

The term often used to describe this kind of website is 'responsive design'. This basically means the website serves the same content to any device be it a desktop computer or a mobile phone but it will change the view and order of that content depending on the size of the device. In other words, it rearranges the web pages content to fit onto any screen size in the best available way.

The new responsive website was completed and recently launched at the beginning of August, so far the feedback has been all positive.

Some people see responsive design as a 'fad' which will soon pass. If having a business with a strong online presence has taught the Private Detectives Corporation anything over the past ten years it not so much that their are 'fads' in website design and practice but more that the whole area is one of constant shift, development and evolution. They understand that it requires time, effort and investment to best showcase your business and services online to potential clients and customers.

Private Investigator Alex explains "Our clients are often nervous when first making contact with us and find themselves in situations wherein contacting us to discuss our services can be awkward or difficult. For some people the only time they may have privacy is during a commute or by specifically leaving their home or place of work. In such situations they are much more likely to use a mobile phone to find and to contact an investigator to help."

"We hope our new website will make things that much easier and quicker for them. There has been a noticeable increase in enquires in the two weeks or so since we launched this new website so currently it looks like this was the right decision to make for the future of the business."
