Long Beach Island Region keeps that Summer Feeling Long After Labor Day

SHIP BOTTOM, N.J. - Aug. 25, 2014 - PRLog -- Labor Day may signal an end to summer in resort areas throughout the east coast, Long Beach Island Region can boast a few more weeks with the anticipation of the largest festival that has added more weeks to LBI summer for a quarter century. The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce reminds everyone that Labor Day signals the start of our second phase of summer with great events like  Barnegat Township Pirate's Day taking place on Saturday September 6 when the a rowdy crew of pirates invades the historic downtown. This free day long event hosts concerts, vendors and activities. It is a chance to embrace your inner pirate and enjoy this bayside town invasion. October 6 head over to LBI for the first day of the 60th Annual LBI Surf Fishing Classic, this year is full with anniversary tournament prizes for bluefish and striped bass that are caught between now and November 30. 26th Annual Chowderfest Weekend will take place October 4 and 5, with Jersey Shore favorite restaurants competing for the crowd s vote and serving up unlimited red and white Chowder. With end of season bargains, live entertainment and gourmet food tent set up during the free Merchant Mart on Saturday October 4 10am to 4pm and the Chowder Cook Off Classic on October 5 beginning at 10am for VIP ticket holders and 11am for General Admission for Chowderfest This year's theme Clamiccon is an ode to the popular cultural phenom event Comiccon and will prove to be in a league of its own.
