Life-Long Snowboarder Pitches Online to Raise Funds Independently

Andrew Young, Snowboarder and entrepreneur, turns to alternative funding sources for his periodical, Snow-Am Magazine. The online funding period ends September, 17th in either a complete success or absolute failure.

DENVER - Aug. 25, 2014 - PRLog -- Snowboarder Andrew Young is reaching out to the public to raise funds for a unique periodical, Snow-Am Magazine, a bi-monthly zine featuring amateur athletes and supporting local businesses.  After a well received pilot issue in March, Young’s next major obstacle is funding for camera and safety equipment to get the business off the ground.  In his attempt to break ranks and raise the money independently, Young turns to Kickstarter.com (http://www.kickstarter.com).

Following Kickstarter.com (http://www.kickstarter.com) guidelines, project creators have a limited time-frame to raise all funds or the project receives nothing.  Snow-Am Magazine has until September 17th to raise $36,000.  If the goal is not reached by then, all pledges will be cancelled and the magazine will not be funded.

Kickstarter.com (http://www.kickstarter.com) forbids monetary reimbursement for pledges, successfully stopping backers from making an investment hoping for easy profit.  Young says, “Being funded by colleagues, supporters and fellow ski and snowboard enthusiasts seemed to be the best option for me.  I want Snow-Am to keep it’s roots in the mountains.  It’s as much about the culture and lifestyle that comes with the sport as it is to create a successful business.”

Young’s periodical, Snow-Am Magazine, features local amateur athletes, trip reports, event coverage, and topics on lifestyle, technology and related environmental issues.  Using a blend of user submitted and professional content, Snow-Am Magazine is an attempt to bridge the gap between athletes and fans while breathing new life into participant sports.

The magazine will be produced, published and printed in a 4-color offset printing press locally in Denver, CO.  The first production issue of Snow-Am Magazine is due to hit the stands this November, with more to follow in January, March and May of 2015.  To learn more about the magazine and it’s production, readers can visit the pitch page here:
