Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County Named Recipient of the Walmart State Giving Program

Walmart Teams up with Local Club to Promote Healthy Lifestyles

MONTEREY, Calif. - Aug. 21, 2014 - PRLog -- Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County (BGCMC) received $25,000 from the Walmart State Giving Program in alignment with the Healthy Lifestyles Initiative. The Healthy Lifestyles Initiative promotes proper nutrition, physical activity, and general awareness of community resources for the children and families that BGCMC serves. BGCMC is proud to partner with Walmart to ensure overall wellness in Monterey County.

“The Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County is the kind of organization that helps us achieve our shared goal of helping communities in our area live better,” said Samie Weaver, store manager for Walmart in Salinas. “Walmart believes in giving back locally and we’re proud to support this group as they find new ways to positively impact lives.”

For many BGCMC members, the Healthy Lifestyles Initiative is their only access to consistent daily nutrition and wellness resources. This program keeps kids active, healthy, and promotes preventative health care. BGCMC will continue, in partnership with Walmart State Giving Foundation, to provide Club members and their families with much needed support from helping to meet daily nutritional needs and engagement in daily recreational activities.
