SportPros Provides Sport Court Performance Flooring for Special Olympics Volleyball

Local New Jersey business brings spirit of community support to the 2014 USA Games

Aug. 21, 2014 - PRLog -- SportProsUSA, a Wyckoff business specializing in Sport Court installation, donated numerous courts and services to the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games in June.

Hailed as the largest, most dynamic and most innovative National Games in the history of Special Olympics, the 2014 USA Games was held from June 14-21 at venues throughout Mercer County including The College of New Jersey, Rider University and Princeton University. Nearly 3,500 athletes competed in 16 Olympic-style team and individual sports, with the support of 1,000 coaches, 10,000 volunteers and 70,000 family, friends and spectators.

One of the most successful events at this years’ Games was Volleyball, for which SportProsUSA, in conjunction with Sport Court, donated and installed the courts.“We are proud to support these organizations in their efforts to bring joy and inspiration to the entire nation,” said Thomas Petersen, President of SportProsUSA.

Kate Maloney Allen, Head Coach of the New Jersey Traditional Volleyball Team, was especially pleased with the quality of the volleyball court. “I love the way [SportPros] amped up the facility,” Allen said. “The court is more forgiving, it’s easier to play on and fall on.” While Allen appreciated the versatility of the court, she was most impressed with the way it looked. “More than anything, I really love the aesthetic appeal that it adds to the stadium. It genuinely makes the athletes feel very special to be part of the team.”

However, SportProsUSA’s and Sport Court’s volleyball courts are more than just good-looking. The versatility and multi-purpose applications make it a court like no other. Provided by SportProsUSA, a Sport Court modular flooring surface is among the safest in the world. The patented Lateral Forgiveness provides protection against the stresses on limbs and joints, and its shock absorption can actually reduce injuries. John Hough, Head Coach of the Wisconsin Traditional Volleyball Team, explains why this court was one of the best he has ever played on. “The Sport Court is very forgiving on the feet. This court in particular is really cool because it has bounce in it. Playing on this court just seems easier,” he says. Hough also described the increased endurance gained by the athletes playing on a Sport Court surface over other surfaces. “It can be tough on the athletes. After 6 days of playing volleyball, your legs start to get a little but dead,” he explains. “It’s nice that the Sport Court gives your a little more life in your legs.” Hough, along with many others agree, “This is one of the best courts we have ever played on. It’s simply a superior product.”

Carolyn Cooper, Commissioner of Volleyball for the 2014 Games, appreciated SportProsUSA’s donation as much as the players and coaches. “The Special Olympics prides itself on upholding the highest level of professionalism in every venue, down to the most intricate detail. The Sport Court set up for the volleyball venue was outstanding,” Cooper said. “Professional, Olympic-level courts gave the venue a world-class feel. The coaches, athletes and spectators were treated to top notch facilities which made the event that much more special.”

Dan Wollman, Director of Commercial Sales for Sport Court, is also appreciative of the new relationship with the Special Olympics. “We have been the official floor of USA Volleyball for 25 years and of the NCAA Volleyball Championships for 20 years,” Wollman said. “We are delighted to add a relationship with the Special Olympics and all that they stand for and achieve.”  Wollman also sent a special thanks to SportProsUSA, Thomas Petersen, Raymond DeMilia and Shannon Hodges for all of their hard work in facilitating the event with Sport Court and the Special Olympics, and making it so successful.

“You can’t be involved in an event like the Special Olympics and not grow as a person,” reflects Petersen. “SportProsUSA is truly fortunate to have played a part in these Games.”
