“There are lots of things that we remember about the 90’s, including cheap gas and questionable fashions. This fall, we are returning to our 90’s pricing, but don’t worry – you don’t have to wear tacky outfits to get the benefits!” laughs River Expeditions owner, Rick Johnson. “We invite everyone to come check out the great fall colors with fantastic 90’s pricing; we might even play some retro music at the Red Dog River Saloon to match!” The New River Gorge is a great destination, close to many major metropolitan areas in the southeast and mid-Atlantic regions. With a huge range of activities on the water, guests are sure to find fun things to do for the whole family! The Upper New River is a great option for first time rafters and family, as it has ample opportunities for pictures and paddling. The Lower New River, otherwise known as “The Grand Canyon of the East” features stronger rapids and whitewater; great for the adrenaline junkie! In the fall, the Upper Gauley River is also open, with several “Gauley release” dates throughout the fall – so be sure to check for availability when booking your trip. In addition to amazing whitewater adventures, River Expeditions features a number of fun onsite and local happenings that are sure to please everyone in your group. Onsite activities include fishing, volleyball, float trips, hiking, paintball, and a brand new zipline! For guests who want to explore the local area, horseback riding, ATV tours, shopping, dining, and much more are just a short drive away. Many of these activities can be booked through River Expeditions, providing guests with a totally inclusive experience. Many onsite camping and lodging options, ranging from rustic to luxurious, are available too! White water rafting consists of navigating a stretch of water on an inflatable raft. Trips generally last about 5-7 hours, including lunch. No experience necessary on milder sections of river – such as the Upper New River. The ability to swim is not required, but it is helpful. Each guest is provided with all the necessary safety equipment: a Coast Guard approved Type V Life Jacket, Paddle, and Helmet. End
