Aurion Learning commits to providing Responsible Business Internships

BELFAST, U.K. - Aug. 20, 2014 - PRLog -- After providing internships for a number of years, award winning digital learning company Aurion Learning have recently signed Business in the Community’s Responsible Business Internships Charter (http://www.bitcni.org.uk/what-we-do/people/supporting-employability/support-for-unemployed/responsible-intership-programme/).

Companies who sign up to provide responsible internships indicate that they are dedicated to tackling graduate unemployment or underemployment by providing a work placement and offering interns the chance to learn new skills which will help them gain employment after they graduate.

Responsible business organisation Business in the Community (http://www.bitcni.org.uk/) developed the Responsible Business Internship scheme in conjunction with Belfast Harbour. The initiative is part of their goal to encourage businesses to tackle social issues and use their skills and resources to benefit others.

Business in the Community’s Head of Employability, Sheila Whelan Duffy explains:

“Youth unemployment remains high and, as such, employers in Northern Ireland have an important role to play in providing responsible work experience programmes to help graduates develop their skills and ultimately secure employment. We are delighted that Aurion Learning is joining with us in tackling this issue. Protecting and helping graduates will ensure we retain this important talent pool which is vital for both our communities and the economy.”

As a learning and development company, the provision of high quality internships aligns with Aurion Learning’s corporate social responsibility strategy by teaching people new skills. Aurion are committed to promoting lifelong learning and giving people the tools they need to lead healthy and fulfilled lives.

Speaking of the initiative, Ciaran O’Hare, Director of Aurion Learning said,

“In the present economic climate, many graduates struggle to compete for jobs because of their lack of experience in the workplace. We aim to equip and educate students through our internship scheme so that they will have a better chance of gaining employment after their studies.”
