Follow on Google News | Tucson Poverello House Initiates WebsiteAfter three years of inactivity on its old website, the Tucson Poverello House has created a new website in support of the homeless men it serves.
By: Tucson Poverello House Open five days each week from Wednesday through Sunday, The Tucson Poverello House offers homeless men two healthy meals, a place to take a shower and to launder their clothes. As homeless attendee Tommy says, “Poverello House is like a sanctuary from the real world for one day each week. For that one day, we get to be human. It makes a big difference to feel human for a day without the ridicule of ‘regular’ people. In August, the Tucson Poverello House initiated a major overhaul of its website. “The site has not been touched in three years,” Brother David explains. “We had a man with some experience step up and volunteer to take over the site. As he told us, a site has to be active to keep people’s attention. In August, our site has been very active.” Most recently, through the efforts of board member Charles R. Dunn, the site now offers its visitors the opportunity to donate funds directly through the site on PayPal. “We hope this will generate more donations to the Tucson Poverello House to support the homeless men we serve,” Dunn says. The Tucson Poverello House is a 501(c)(3) organization and all donations go directly to pay for rent, utilities, supplies and food for the homeless men the Poverello House serves. Since the new website came online, it has garnered visits from as far away as South Africa and Germany, and the number of hits continues to grow daily.
