'haskapa' Haskap juice wins the Product Innovation Award at the 2014 World Congress of Food Science
On 18th August 2014, Nova Scotian agricultural pioneers, LaHave Forests, won the ‘Product Innovation Award’ for their ‘haskapa’ brand of Haskap juice at the 2014 World Congress of Food Science & Technology in Montreal, Quebec.
This award is the third accolade won by the Haskap Juice since its launch in November 2013 after the World Juice Award’s ‘Best New Juice 2013’ and Taste of Nova Scotia’s ‘Innovative Product 2013’. The award was collected by Giovana Celli, a PhD student working with LaHave Forests to investigate and extract the high levels of antioxidants from Haskap berries.
“To have won so many awards in such a short period of time is an indication of the quality and versatility of the product, and demonstrates the commercial viability of this new and exciting crop” says Liam Tayler, Commercial Director of LaHave Forests.
“We consider the ‘haskapa’ Haskap juice to be the most exciting and versatile juice to come out of Canada for some time, and this award raises awareness as to the potential of the Canadian Haskap industry.”
