FORT MYERS, Fla. - Aug. 18, 2014 - PRLog -- Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida’s Communications & Development Department has been honored with two statewide awards for excellence in public relations.

The awards were presented August 12 in Orlando at the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) Golden Image Awards ceremony.

Goodwill won a Golden Image Award for the best institutional video, “Goodwill Thanks You.”  The fundraising video project was shot, produced and edited by Goodwill’s Director of Public Relations and Marketing Kirsten O’Donnell.

“This was the first time we’d ever submitted an entry at the state level,” says O’Donnell.  “It’s an honor for Goodwill and our department to be recognized by our peers across the Sunshine State.”

The Golden Image Awards have been setting the standard of public relations excellence in the state of Florida since 1968. According to the FPRA website, to qualify for judging, an entry must incorporate sound public relations research and planning. Entries also must meet the highest standard of production, execution, and evaluation of results and budget. Winners demonstrate the very best examples of innovation, planning and design.

O’Donnell’s video, which resulted in a 40% increase in new donors at Goodwill’s 2013 Tux & Trees Gala, was also honored with a Judges’ Award.  Judges’ Awards are presented to entries that deliver maximum results with minimum expense.

“Goodwill Thanks You” also won an Award of Distinction and a Judges’ Award at the FPRA Southwest Florida Chapter’s local image awards earlier this year.

Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that helps Southwest Floridians with disabilities and disadvantages by offering life-changing opportunities to achieve independence.  Goodwill’s programs and services include Job-Link centers, disability-accessible housing, small business training, youth mentoring, community outreach, and the Goodwill L.I.F.E.
