Dr. Grossfeld joins Certified Athletic Trainer Chelsea Sullivan in her new role to keep student athletes healthy and injury free.

Assumption High School is an award-winning private Catholic high school for girls located in Louisville, Kentucky. The school has received the Blue Ribbon School of Excellence from the U.S. Department of Education three different years. Assumption has a very strong athletic program which includes championship teams in a number of sports. Assumption High School athletes – the Rockets – were 2013 State Champions in Volleyball, Field Hockey, and Cross Country.

Serving as the team doctor for athletes at Assumption High School, board certified orthopedic surgeon Dr. Stacie Grossfeld (see: http://www.louisvillebones.com/grossfeld.htm) will continue in her effort to help athletes stay in the game and avoid sports injuries. Dr. Grossfeld has a lot of experience as a team physician and sports medicine doctor working with a broad range of athletes which include dancers for the Louisville Ballet, the South Oldham Football team, and area cyclo-cross competitors.

Double board certified in orthopedic medicine and sports medicine, Dr. Grossfeld is a graduate of the University of Louisville’s School of Medicine. She completed an internship and residency at the University of Minnesota along with a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the Fowler- Kennedy Sports Medicine Center.  Dr. Grossfeld is also a competitive athlete. When not practicing medicine, she enjoys playing USTA tennis and cycling.

Dr. Grossfeld is excited to work hand in hand with certified athletic trainer Chelsea Sullivan. New this year to Assumption, Chelsea is a 2010 graduate of Mercy Academy and a 2014 graduate of the University of Vermont (UVM). As a standout field hockey player, Chelsea played for two years at UVM until her career as a talented midfielder was cut short by injury. During this time she discovered the field of athletic training which she later decided to study, earning a B.S. in Athletic Training.

Talking about working as the Athletic Trainer for Assumption High School, Chelsea explains: “I’m very excited to return back home to Louisville. I can’t wait to get started at Assumption this fall. With three state champion teams last year, I’m joining a fantastic athletics program.” Chelsea will be working with Dr. Grossfeld to serve athletes at Assumption, covering all of Assumption’s sports including field hockey, volleyball, cross country, and many more.
