Banner Engineering partners with the Western New York Super Rod Association
Upcoming WNYSRA event to be sponsored by the manufacturer of industrial and process automation components
Phil Harnden, Co-Founder of the Tread City Tire / Western New York Super Rod Association, stated, “We’re extremely excited to have Banner Engineering join us as a race sponsor for the 2014 season. Banner has been involved in drag racing longer than most people know, as their photoelectric sensors are used in the timing systems at almost every track in North America. But, with this partnership we’ll be able to bring Banner Engineering to the forefront so that everyone associated with the racing community knows about their cutting-edge technologies.”
Founded in 1967, Banner Engineering was created in the basement of Bob Fayfield’s home. The company started as a small electronics engineering firm focused on personal service and smart, customized solutions. Over the years though, Banner Engineering has evolved into a worldwide leading manufacturer of industrial and process automation components. Today, virtually every manufacturing company in the Fortune 500 relies upon Banner Engineering to satisfy their sensing requirements.
The Director of North American Sales for Banner Engineering, Dan Colvin, stated, “Though our products are not utilized primarily in motorsports, we realize that many of the fans and competitors may have the need for the types of products we manufacture at their full-time jobs. So, we, along with our distributor for the region, KOM Automation, believe that we can leverage this partnership with the Western New York Super Rod Association to positively affect sales in the territory. Thus, as you can imagine, we are all very enthusiastic about moving forward with the WNYSRA.”
The Tread City Tire / Western New York Super Rod Association returns to Empire Dragway this Saturday, August 16th, for race number 6 of the 8 race series. Gates open at noon, with open time trials for all competitors starting at 1 pm. WNYSRA qualifying sessions are currently scheduled for 2:00 pm and 3:30 pm, with final eliminations slated to start at 5:00 pm. About the Western New York Super Rod Association (WNYSRA):
The Western New York Super Rod Association was founded in 2014 to provide an outlet for some of the best heads-up, pro-tree competitors in western New York, southern Ontario, and northwestern Pennsylvania to compete in one of the longest running sportsman drag racing categories, IHRA's Super Rod or NHRA's Super Gas. The 8-race series includes 6 events at Empire Dragway in Leicester, NY, and 2 races at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario, Canada, with the winner of one of those two races taking home a coveted NHRA “Wally”. In addition to serving the racers, it is the goal of the WNYSRA to provide their sponsors with unprecedented marketing value for their money through exposure at the track, in printed media, and on-line.
