Aug. 13, 2014 - PRLog -- Cheerbrook Farm Shop in Nantwich has launched an online sausage shop to make its award-winning sausage range available for home delivery throughout the UK.

This year’s winner of FARMA’s Best On-Farm Butchery Award, Cheerbrook is one of the UK’s premier farm shops, and their seriously impressive butchery has helped place them firmly on the food map in Cheshire and beyond. Sausages are a particular speciality, and it’s the 100 years’ combined experience of their own team of master butchers along with a fanatical quest for the perfect banger which has contributed to the development of what must be one of the best sausage ranges in the UK.

“We’ve literally travelled the length and breadth of the UK in search of a product that rivals our Perfect Pork Sausage but we haven’t found one” commented Cheerbrook owner Andrew Shufflebotham. And it seems that numerous competition judges would agree, with the product winning Taste Cheshire’s Best Plain Pork Sausage award and gaining a score of 99 out of 100 in a recent national BPEX competition, as well as various other regional and national awards for flavour and texture.

What makes a Cheerbrook banger so special? The perfect sausage starts with the perfect pork, and Cheerbrook get theirs from Packington Free Range, an award-winning free range pig and chicken farm near Burton-upon-Trent in Staffordshire. “We aim to source all of our produce as locally as possible, but we crossed the border into Staffordshire for our pork as Packington really are the best, rearing their pigs outdoors to the highest welfare standards which guarantees great tasting, juicy meat” said Andrew.

The pork is carefully butchered at Cheerbrook to remove the prime muscles from the shoulder bone, ensuring a perfect ratio of lean to fat. The minced pork is then mixed with fresh herbs and any other ingredients, along with breadcrumbs, and encased in a natural skin. “It’s a common misconception that the higher the meat content, the better the sausage” continued Andrew.

“Of course, it’s true up to a point, but breadcrumbs serve an important purpose and that’s to provide the perfect texture and also, crucially, to soak up some of the fat when the sausages are cooked. This of course adds to the flavour, and means you get a less greasy sausage.”

Cheerbrook don’t use any MSG, colours or artificial additives in their sausages, instead relying on the freshest herbs, vegetables, and in some cases fruit or other meats to provide their fabulous array of flavours.
