A return to form for lovers of classic scifi action and adventure

Aug. 12, 2014 - PRLog -- Michael Moreau, author, artist & filmmaker boldly wades back in to the deep end of retro science fiction action and adventure in the style of Andre Norton and R.A. Lafferty. What’s better? It’s not just a single book but an entire planned franchise of serials due to be released in a twice-annual fashion!

The first book in the series will be the beginning of a three-part serial with the second book arriving in September of 2014 and the third arriving in March of 2015. It will introduce the main characters and the setting in which the books will take place. Included is the book’s blurb:

In the time of the Federated Worlds combat and commerce are the domain of a rough and tumble group of rocketmen known as the Service. These brave souls form the backbone of the interstellar economy, riding rockets to all corners of the Milky Way and her neighboring galaxies. Another part of that economic system is Interplanetary Holdings and their newest installation is Aelous Station, a secure facility located deep within an area of space known as The Crux where faster than light travel is impossible.

Being one of the Service’s most formidable commanders Captain Tarsik of the R.S. Honshu isn’t one to allow his feathers to be ruffled, that is until he steps foot on Aeolus and finds himself in the midst of a trap set by an adversary he’d thought long vanquished.

From the author himself, “There’s just something terribly amusing about those old paperbacks with the funky cover art that told stories of the swashbuckling adventures of rocketship crews. Scifi was so wide open back then, no limits to what stories you could or couldn’t tell and nobody expected a ton of subtext. You didn’t read them to be dragged back and forth by convoluted and intersecting storylines, you read them to have a fun afternoon.”

After the current three-part serial there are already several other books planned for the franchise. One of them will be a compilation of short stories that reveal back story on each of the main characters. There are also several one-off novellas planned as well as future multi-part serials. In addition a line of art prints to accompany the release of the third book in the first serial will be released in March of 2015.
