Aug. 12, 2014 - PRLog -- Electric vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and interested local residents will have the opportunity to join in a celebration of emission-free, electric driving at the Bluffton National Electric Drive Week event Saturday, September 20. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. electric vehicle owners and their neighbors will gather at the Technical College of the Lowcountry for a “tailpipe-free” tailgate party sponsored by Hilton Head Nissan, a premier Nissan dealership located in the New River Auto Mall.

“This is the first time National Drive Electric Week has come to the Lowcountry,” said Warner Peacock, president and CEO of the New River Auto Mall. “We are excited that our Nissan dealership is on the forefront of innovative automotive technology.”

Highlighting the clean-air benefits and cost-savings of electric cars, the event will feature loads of information about EV’s, as well as a chance for those in attendance to inspect and drive a variety of electric plug-in vehicles such as the Nissan Leaf, the Tesla Model S, the Chevrolet Volt, and the Ford C-Max Energi, among others.

All proceeds above the actual cost of the event will be donated to the Bluffton Historical Preservation Society and Friends of Bluffton Dog Parks. Refreshments and food will be provided by the Bluffton High School Environmental Engineering Club, and all proceeds from sales will go to benefit the club.

Electric vehicles not only provide mobility without dependence on oil or gasoline, but they cut down on carbon pollution, help drivers save money, and are fun to drive. The Bluffton event is sure to be informative and entertaining, and Hilton Head Nissan is encouraging all proud EV owner as well as those interested in learning more about EV’s to join in this community celebration of emission-free vehicles.

The Technical College of the Lowcountry is located at 100 Community College Drive, just off US-278 W/Fording Island Road, about 14 minutes from downtown Bluffton. For more information about the event, visit the Bluffton National Drive Electric website.

National Drive Electric Week is organized by Plug In America, the Sierra Club, and the Electric Auto Association. Nissan is the exclusive automotive sponsor of the nationwide series of events.
