SAN ANTONIO - Aug. 11, 2014 - PRLog -- San Antonio, Tx (August 4,2014) -  The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts has released the  “Opening Nights” commemorative limited edition poster.  San Antonio Native, William Stidham was commissioned by the center to design the poster based on his acclaimed “Sacred Heart” Rock and Roll portrait series.

“We are honored that Stidham created the artwork for the poster” said Aaron Zimmerman Director of Programming for the Tobin Center. “ Bill has a long history of painting music related art and the icons that have made music history.  When you couple that with his many ties to the San Antonio community, he just seemed like a natural fit.”

William Stidham, grew up on the city’s northwest side and attended Robert E. Lee High School. He later settled in Austin where he has developed a successful career as a watercolor artist .

“It was a complete honor to be chosen to do the poster for the opening of the Tobin Center. The fact that is happening in my hometown makes it even sweeter. San Antonio helped shape my worldview and definitely influenced my art. A big part of my heart will always be Puro San Antonio! said Stidham.

His celebrated series; the Rock and Roll “Sacred Hearts” collection, features rock icons and other celebrities.  A dramatic, red, flaming heart completes each portrait. This is Stidham's trademark “Sacred Heart.”

For the opening nights celebration poster, Stidham features music icons who all have a place in the Tobin Center’s month long event; Carlos Santana, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Ringo Starr, Jason Miraz and the Blues Brothers.

The month long Opening Nights Celebration begins September 4 and runs through October 19.  Stidham’s artwork can be seen in many businesses and venues around Texas. His work is on display at the popular restaurant, Taco Garage in Alamo Heights.
