Follow on Google News | Boys & Girls Clubs Honor Staff and Board Members - 60th Board of Directors and Officers InstalledThe Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme recently installed new board leadership and honored staff and volunteer members at its annual dinner and installation.
By: BGCOP BGCOP member and Keystone Club president Amber Holmes installed the Club’s 60th board of officers and directors including President Richard Duarte; Immediate Past President Sean Leonard, S.L. Leonard & Associates; Vice President Nancy Mayerson, Mayerson Marketing & Public Relations; Treasurer Mike Orman, Ojai Community Bank; and Secretary Sean Copeland, Scanlon, Guerra, Burke. Executive committee members include Don Facciano, youth advocate; Rigoberto Vargas, Ventura County Public Health; Robert Sills, youth advocate; Dean Maulhardt, Quality Packaging & Supplies, Inc.; Steve Kinney, EDCO; and Carmen Ramos-Soriano, City National Bank. At the July 17 event, Mayerson, a longtime board member, was honored as the Board Member of the Year, and Kelly Ventimiglia, Roderick Rosario, Annie Huyhn and Eric Pastores received Most Valuable Staff Member awards. Richard Duarte received the From the Heart Award, and David Wellik received the Helping Hand Award. Staff C.E.C.I.L. awards were presented to Fernando Garcia, Wendy Clyde, Mayra Rincon, LaCresha McManus, and Stephanie Corbett. Honors were also given to staff members who celebrated five or more years of service to the Boys & Girls Clubs. Sean Leonard and Michelle Pettes received five-year service to youth awards, while Peter Zierhut was awarded a 15-year service to youth award. Awards of appreciation were given to the entire board, full-time staff and coordinators. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme exists to inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. With three full-service clubs, 18 school program sites and one housing site, the organization is one of the largest of its kind in California, serving more than 9,000 members annually. The group is also the first Boys & Girls Club of its kind to open a site inside a Juvenile Justice Center in the state of California. Program areas offered to youth include character and leadership development, education and career development, health and life skills, the arts, technology and sports, fitness and recreation.
