By: PLYGSA Forty two teams in the 10U division and 44 teams in the 12U division from California, Oregon, Montana, Nevada and Hawaii competed in tournament play, team skills and individual competitions. With a final record of 5 – 2, the 12U PYL team placed 9th overall, while with a final record of 4 – 2, the 10U team placed 13th. In the team skills competitions, PYL’s Calissa Stapp won for the fastest pitch in 12U at 55mph and Kaylee Barkely placed second in the 10U division at 50mph. PYL’s 12U “Around the Horn” throwing team of Eleni Cantonis, Sara Forgue, Kris Medrano, Sadie Pool and Calissa Stapp took first place with a time of 7.94 seconds. And in the 10U group, Kaylee Barkley won the base running competition with a time of 12.53 seconds. Pool emphasizes, “Every PYLGSA player came away a winner. …each girl rooted for her team and her fellow athletes. They banded together and epitomized what PYLGSA is all about – friends supporting friends and the realization that team support is vital to every victory.” About the PLYGSA The Placentia Yorba Linda Girls Softball Association is based on the principle of creating a family friendly and enjoyable atmosphere for young girls to play softball.
