CoCo | Conscious Collective™ Authentically Natural Hair Care Line for Women of Color Launches

DALLAS - Aug. 6, 2014 - PRLog -- Hair and beauty brand, CoCo | Conscious Collective™ prepares for the release of its new hair care line of authentically natural cleansers, conditioners and styling products with the launch of an IndieGoGo crowdfunding campaign today. CoCo | Conscious Collective™ is the only authentically natural alternative that allows women who do not compromise on the quality of the ingredients they put on their tresses to protect and style their hair straight or curly. There are two sub-brands appropriately named Straight Transformations™ and Curly Concoctions™. The brand promises to protect and promote the interests of ingredient-conscious women by offering botanically derived natural formulas that offer nontoxic alternatives to other products that contain parabens, harsh petrochemicals and animal by-products. These formulas are soon-to-be Natural Products Association certified. The company will also re-invest one dollar of every product sold back into socially conscious causes that support the development of women entrepreneurs in underserved global communities.

Megan Johnson, Founder and CEO of Pure Alchemy Products, makers of CoCo | Conscious Collective, worked in consumer packaged goods within the ethnic hair care industry for years. Johnson became increasingly dissatisfied with the lack of credibility in claims and care for what women of color put on their bodies.  Johnson decided to step out in her own entrepreneurial pursuits with the product line to assert her passion for the preservation of women’s trust in their personal care and women’s economic sustainability.  When asked about her motivation to start the line, Johnson says, “I noticed a need to offer women choice in their personal and hair care products; through versatility in styling methods and through reestablishing credibility in the term “natural.” As women of color, we have historically allowed the very loose use of the terms “natural” and “organic” in our product claims and have let companies take advantage of this for too long.  Coco | Conscious Collective is different in that we offer transparency and informed choice through a certified natural alternative, all while supporting women, like us, who want to support themselves.”

Current customers describe the products as moisturizing, gentle, and resulting in healthier looking hair. In order to promote the brand launch, the company will engage in a crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo.
