Seven Attorneys From Snell & Wilmer's CA Offices Contribute to Los Angeles Adoption Day Program

LOS ANGELES - Aug. 5, 2014 - PRLog -- Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that seven attorneys from our California offices participated in the 2014 Los Angeles Adoption Day Program. Brian Arnold, Tiffanny Brosnan, Claire Edwards, Jordan Lee, James Scheinkman, Marjorie Witter and Carol Wong volunteered their legal services for adoption cases arranged through Public Counsel in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Adoption Day Program is one of four special Adoption Days, where certain courtrooms are dedicated exclusively to adoption hearings held one after the other, enabling record numbers of adoptions to be finalized on the same day. Adoption days culminate in November for National Adoption Day, a celebration where 400 cities in all 50 states perform nearly 5,000 adoptions on one day. The 2014 National Adoption Day will be held on November 22. The Los Angeles Adoption Day Program started in 1997 as a partnership between the Alliance, volunteer attorneys, the Department of Children and Family Services and Public Counsel. The innovative program began as a solution to the overwhelming number of foster child adoptions, which were stuck in a backlog. Together, they cleared the backlog and in doing so, established a national model for performing adoptions. This launched National Adoption Day (NAD).
