Aug. 4, 2014 - PRLog -- eSchool News honors myON as a 2014-15 Readers’ Choice Award winner

MINNEAPOLIS - Aug. 4, 2014 - eSchool News, a publisher of K-12 ed-tech news and information, has named myON as a winner of its 2014-15 Readers’ Choice Awards (, honoring the best products and services in educational technology as chosen by readers.

myON, a top personalized literacy ( product for the K-12 market, was one of 50 winners of the prestigious award, chosen from hundreds of submissions.

“We were extremely excited to hear the news that we won an award submitted and handed out by the readers of a well established publication such as eSchool News,” said Todd Brekhus, President of myON ( “We’ve always had a passion for improving literacy, and we’d like to think that our product is proving that getting kids access to more books will make them better readers and more engaged in their learning. This recognition by readers only makes us more motivated to continually strive to develop the most innovative literacy products for readers.”

More than 1,300 educators and administrators from K-12 schools and districts across North America nominated their favorite ed-tech products or services this past spring; to maintain the integrity of the program, nominations from vendors were not accepted.

When submitting nominations, educators were asked to describe how they were using each product to improve teaching, learning, or school administration—and to what effect.

The result “is a list of ed-tech products and services that have proven to be effective,” said Editorial Director Dennis Pierce. “We hope readers will find this information valuable as they consider what technologies they should use in their own schools.”

The winners and honorable mentions ( are recognized in a special feature published in the August 2014 edition of eSchool News, as well as on This special feature highlights the winning products and services and includes comments from readers about why each entry deserves the award.
