I know he's smiling down on me and is so happy!” Both of Debbie's parents immigrated to the United States from Greece and instilled in her the concept of philoxenia, a passion for bringing friends, family, and even strangers together over the dinner table for meals made with love. “From start to finish, the book is filled with the spirit of philoxenia and the Greek spirit of sharing of food and love everyday. One of my biggest passions in life is bringing friends and family together to share a huge, beautiful meal.” Debbie says. A family affair from the start, Debbie, her husband photographer Jon Falcone, and contributing writer Peter Capozzi traveled to Greece to write and photograph the book last year. Debbie’s mother Froso and her aunt Aphrodite were enlisted as food stylists, cooking and styling nearly every food photograph in the book to make sure they were 100% authentic. Debbie said, “We traveled to Greece to pry these recipes out of the hands of all my family! My Mom and my Aunt really made sure everything we did was exactly right. They would not let anything leave their hands or end up in the pages of the book that was not a perfect and beautiful representation of the authentic dish. I am so grateful to them for sharing their talent and their passion, and we could not have done the book without them!” Contributor Peter Capozzi, an executive producer and writer in the food and lifestyle space, who began his television career working for Martha Stewart, said, “I’ve known and worked with Debbie for nearly 10 years. From the moment I met her, I was in awe of her passion for food, friends, and family, and she always took care of everyone around her, including me!
