![]() CM Heavy Industries Wins Wave Energy Mooring ContractThe contract from India Power for the offshore wave energy converter (WEC) mooring system has been awarded to CM Heavy Industries.
The design used here is targeted to additional offshore zones in high wave energy locations around the globe including the USA and Western Europe. CM's wave energy mechanism is designed for maximum optimization for hydrodynamic energy production. It consists of a limited number of parts, which reduces the chance of malfunction. These include a plastic hull with fiver reinforcement and two rotary generators that feature high-torque, low-speed, large-diameter and direct-drive operations. The simple but precise construction creates a small environmental impact while ensuring long-lasting production of competitively- With this first contract between CM Heavy Industries and India, CM is shown to be a beneficial partner in the technologically advanced alternative energy industry. India will receive the benefits of CM's design and engineering expertise recognized globally, while CM receives the opportunity to demonstrate their innovative solutions to renewable power, which is one of their special focus areas. The development of offshore moorings for wave energy production necessitates development of new technology that can translate into economical advances in other large-scale renewable energy projects. India will receive a safe and advanced energy plant that combines integral designs with full system engineering capability and development. The project will also serve as an example of the economic and environmental benefits of offshore wave energy and other renewable power sources and will facilitate further advancement in research and development of this technology.
