-- Each spring, the Southern Ocean County Community Foundation with the support of members from the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce and regional chefs host the Taste of Southern Ocean Hunger Relief Dinner at Sea Oaks Country Club. With an extensive themed menu and atmosphere, the dinner and auction has raised over $500.000 dollars over the past nineteen years that go directly to neighborhood food pantries. The 2014 event raised $60,000.
The August 12 membershp luncheon will be held at the Holiday Inn in Manahawkin with networking beginning at 1130am, and program at noon featuring updates from several food pantries. Event Chairs Dan Taylor, of G Anderson Agency and Ian Smith of the OCVTS Cusine on the Green, will be presenting each food pantry with a check for $7500 to help them with much needed supplies to feed the residents of our area. The food pantries who will be recieving the donation are Barnegat Food Pantry, St Francis Center, The Lacey Food Bank, Tuckerton Inter Church Food Pantry, Ocean Community Food Ministry, St Stephens Episcopal Church Food Pantry, St Marys Ken's Kitchen, and King of Kings Community Church Food Pantry.
