WAXHAW, N.C. - July 22, 2014 - PRLog -- The group invites everyone to come out, rally together at the downtown bridge crossing over the railroad tracks in Waxhaw at 6:30 pm and then be prepared to show support by cash-mobbing downtown local businesses as part of a Shift $20 movement. “We are asking local-minded folks to show up and participate by refocusing at least $20 of their current spending to support the downtown local businesses in lieu of buying online or at the big-box chains”, replied Lisa Hoffman, events coordinator for the town.

First Fridays in Waxhaw are filled with opportunities to have a great night on the town. Local businesses like Provisions by Sandy Creek (a wholesome local foods market), MAN CAVE Pro Memorabilia (specializing in high quality authentic collectibles), The Gracious Home (retail boutique), Waxhaw Antique Mart and great local restaurants will be staying open late, offering special discounts. Free carriage rides are available to the public, plus a free family-friendly concert featuring the local talents of Flatland Tourist playing 8-10pm at the downtown concert stage located next to Mama Lena’s authentic Italian restaurant.

What exactly is a Cash Mob you ask?

Perhaps you have heard of “flash mobs,” where a mass of people invade a public space to make a scene. Now the idea has been turned on its head by “cash mobs,” where crowds of consumers show up to spend money at local businesses.

“Cash Mobs are part of a call-to-action to rebuild our local economy”, says Nancy Bradley, owner of NANZORIGINAL Digital Branding & Online Marketing Agency and spokesperson for the Rely On Local Business Campaign. “We are continually seeking out local businesses for Cash Mob hits in Charlotte and the surrounding areas” Bradley added. Fueled by social media channels such as Facebook and Twitter, local Cash Mobs are popping up all over to help boost local economy and build a sense of community.

Cash Mobs have no political or social affiliation. The events are organized by people who want to make a positive impact on local businesses and have fun while doing so. All businesses chosen to be the target of the Cash Mob are known for giving back to the community in a positive way.
