On-Q Marketing Launches Updated Website for the Omaha Empowerment Breakfast

July 22, 2014 - PRLog -- Omaha, NE, July 22, 2014:  On-Q Marketing, LLC an inbound marketing consultancy, has updated the website for the Omaha Empowerment Breakfast (http://omahaempowermentbreakfast.org/) (OEB).  The previous website was designed more than 10 years ago and worked very well in handling registrations and automatically displayed a list of attendees. Then earlier this year, Jeff Quandt, owner of On-Q Marketing, noticed that spammers had begun to enter listings on the site to gain back links to their website from the OEB website; a black-hat SEO tactic. Jeff made some suggestions regarding updating the form to stop this practice which included things like a captcha field that only a human can understand and fill out. There are other server-based tactics that he also recommended.

This led to creating a new updated website which could incorporate anti-spam tactics to best control and eliminate the spammers from taking control of the registration list. “As things progressed, testing of several different form designs were made and I settled upon the current form that incorporates several spam stoppers.  It was also decided the automatically generated list of attendees would not be part of the new design, but that after registration closes, a clean list would be made available on the website.” Quandt added.

The updated website was launched in late July with the August 8, 2014 breakfast meeting being the first full use of the new registration system.  Barb Foster, Lead Business Development Specialist, U.S. Small Business Administration Nebraska District Office said “it was wonderful that Jeff stepped forward with his ideas and offered his company’s services to not only reduce or eliminate the spam entries, but to also provide a better user experience for people making breakfast registrations.”

Other features of the updated website include:

·         Online form to request cancellation or change in a registration

·         Past meeting attendee lists

·         Responsive web design
