Royce Twins prepare to launch their Debut EP
Over 4.2 million YouTube views can’ be wrong. That’s how many times The Royce Twins cover of Jason Mraz’s “I won’t give up” has been watched. It’s also the first single on their Debut EP, it hits stores on 26 July 2014.
The Debut EP music release is the result of The Royce Twins crowd funding their recording costs, with pledgers being able to pre-order an autographed copy of the Debut EP.
The Royce Twins Debut EP is produced by Adrian Hannan, who after hearing the original compositions of the Twins decided to take on the project. Hannan has worked with other notable Australian artists including Taxiride, Vanessa Amorosi, Delta Goodrem and Gabriella Cilmi.
The Royce Twins caught themselves some attention after appearing on XFactor Australia last year. After sharing a highly personal story about losing their parents at a young age and being placed into Foster care, the Twins went onto sing “I won’t give up” by Jason Mraz and Michael Natter. This was the first time many in Australia had heard the song so it was like seeing an original performance.
The YouTube video of that performance has now been viewed by more than 4 million people and The Royce Twins have had website visitors from over 100 countries.
“We’re grateful for everyone who helped crowd fund the EP and Youtube has gone nuts. We could never have expected that,” said Michael.
The first single to be release to radio, by popular demand their cover of “I won’t give up”.
“It’s a special song to us,” said Gabriel. “We’ve been through our fair of challenges in life but if you keep going you can achieve almost anything. This EP is just like that. I hope people who have had our start to life see that and are brave enough to follow their own dreams.”
The Royce Twins’ version of the song though is however likely to become an anthem for weddings for the rest of the year with the Twins receiving multiple requests from engaged couples to release it. “We’ve even received an email from a guy in the UK who wanted to travel to Australia so he could propose to his girlfriend and we could sing it,” said Michael. “That stuff is amazing to us, that people want to have us as a part of their special day.”
“We’re really happy we’ve had the opportunity to record our original music,” said Gabriel. “If people like what they’ve heard so far, we think they’re going to really like the new originals and the harmonies on the EP.”
“This is a milestone for us for sure, the EP provides us with the opportunity to have our original music to be heard and set up recording a full album down the track,” said Michael.
The original music is set to inspire and delight. In addition to singing together on all tracks, The Royce Twins show case their musical talents, playing acoustic and electric guitars, drums and percussion. Some tracks also feature classical instruments, cello and piano coupled with epic Royce harmonies. The Royce Twins sing about the universal themes of love and courage. Lyrically interesting and meaningful, all tracks are easy to listen to and will have listeners singing along in no time. All tracks feature what are set to become trademark Royce harmonies.
It’s clear these Twins are still country boys at heart. Humble with great harmonies.
