Savannah Rock-N-Roll Marathon and Half-Marathon

-- The Savannah Rock-N-Roll Marathon and Half-Marathon is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 8, but as seasoned runners know, it’s never too early to begin training. The certified trainers at the Wellness Institute (http://www.newriverwellnessinstitute.com/)
and Palmetto Running Co. in Bluffton will be offering two specific training programs to help Lowcountry runners prepare for the race. The Marathon Training Program will kick off on Saturday, July 19, with the Half-Marathon Training scheduled to begin on Saturday, August 16.
Starting in historic downtown Savannah, the course for the Savannah Rock-N-Roll Marathon will run from the intersection of Bay Street and Bull Street at City Hall and will pass by three historic downtown city squares, continuing past the palatial homes of Gordonston and beautiful West Savannah, before finishing at Forsyth Park. There will be a Finish Line Festival immediately following the race featuring refreshments and live music.
Preparing to run a marathon is serious business, but the professionals at the Wellness Institute and Palmetto Running Co. can make the entire process exhilarating and fun. Participants can expect to learn exercises and routines that will help prepare the body for the grueling demands of a marathon. The training is designed to enhance performance and stamina, while helping to reduce the risk of injury.
