MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. - July 16, 2014 - PRLog -- Living within the Tax Cap Forum brings the Leadership of Southern Westchester Together

(July 11, 2014 – Mount Vernon, NY)  Wartburg and Westchester County Home Owners’ Coalition (WCHC) are pleased to host the first Southern Westchester Summit which will focus on Governor Cuomo’s Tax Capt initiative and its implication for southern Westchester municipalities.  There are both opportunities and challenges based on the tax relief incentives provided by the 2014 state budget, alongside stubborn unfunded state mandates.

The event is scheduled on Thursday, July 17th, 2014 at Wartburg’s Conference Center, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  At least four Mayors, Ernie Davis – Mount Vernon, Noam Bramson - New Rochelle, Randy Sellier - Village of Pelham Manor, Anne McAndrews – Larchmont, and Village Manager Al Gatta (Scarsdale), with Trustee Christ Reim (Pelham), will form a panel that will respond to the speech and comments made by guest speaker Edmund J. McMahon, President of the Empire Center for Public Policy.  McMahon’s published essays – on state and local government accountability and fiscal responsibility – in the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Barron’s, the Public Interest, and the New York Post, have received wide acclaim.  His influential “Blueprint for a Better Budget,” published in January 2010, featured a number of recommendations subsequently implemented under Governors David Paterson and Andrew Cuomo.

“We are pleased to be able to host such an important event on our campus,” said David Gentner, President and CEO of The Wartburg.

“The residents of Westchester County will benefit from an engaging and open dialogue”, said Derickson K. Lawrence, chair of WCHC, “about the looming issues and opportunities facing our municipalities, our region, and our state.”

Seating is limited, so registration on WCHC’s website and early arrival are recommended; the event will begin promptly at 7 p.m.  The audience will have an opportunity to complete question cards for the speaker and panel upon arrival.
