Follow on Google News | Local Nonprofit To Host Free Celebration Of World Breastfeeding WeekLive music, food trucks, educational booths and family activities planned
Along with 22 educational booths and vendors, the celebration will include live music, food trucks, 3 speakers, raffle drawings, nursing portraits and toddler play area. The event will also include “The Big Latch On,” a one-minute period during which women around the world will breastfeed their children simultaneously, uniting a global community of mothers. The event will be held in the gym of St. Mark’s Catholic Church from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free, but donations of canned goods are requested. Vendors include Gymboree, Go Baby Go, Jamberry, All’s Fair World Gifts and more. About the Birth and Breastfeeding Alliance: Formed in May of 2014, the Birth and Breastfeeding Alliance is a nonprofit organization based in San Antonio, TX, seeking to provide support and education to mothers and families from birth to early childhood. About World Breastfeeding Week: World Breastfeeding Week (August 1-7) was established by the WHO and UNICEF in 1990 to support and promote breastfeeding, identified at the best source of nutrients for infants. About The Big Latch On: The Big Latch On is a global event seeking to promote and normalize breastfeeding around the world.
