Viewpoint Labs introduces new stylish LED blacklight for high-class point-of-sale UV inspection

PUTNAM, Conn. - July 15, 2014 - PRLog -- Viewpoint Laboratories today announced a new addition to their TrueBlack portfolio of ultraviolet LED illumination products, a sleek, polished steel, gooseneck blacklight fixture targeted for point-of-sale UV inspection where decor considerations are essential.

"We saw a need to address a number of issues associated with the conventional UV inspection products on the market, from the handheld flashlights to those boxy enclosures which look like miniature black toaster ovens," said a spokesperson for the company. "For many situations, in bars, nightclubs and casinos for example, it's just not convenient to be picking up and putting down a handheld UV flashlight every time there's a need to check an ID or to check a twenty- or fifty-dollar bill. The enclosure products are an attempt to make UV inspection more convenient, but they're often hidden under the counter or in some inconvenient place anyway because they just don't look like they belong in a point-of-sale environment which is supposed to be inviting, not confrontational. In the worst-case scenario the conventional products just end up not being used at all, so it defeats the purpose. And then there's the need for checking blacklight-reactive handstamps and wristbands, which the enclosure products are not even designed to accommodate."

"Our new LED blacklight fixture solves the aesthetic and convenience problems due to its sleek, neutral design that will satisfy most any decor requirements and can be clamped onto any available spot right at a point-of-sale location, or even in an admission/entry location. It has an adjustable gooseneck to optimize viewing conditions. Also, because it is based on LEDs it acts as a spotlight (similar to the flashlight products) to concentrate the UV light where its needed, unlike the enclosure products which are based on conventional UV bulbs and therefore require the enclosure to stop the light from shining everywhere."

"Another important feature is the UV-transmitting filter that eliminates unwanted visible wavelength contamination, which is the hallmark of all of Viewpoint Laboratories' TrueBlack UV LED illumination products including our flashlights and MR16-compatible spotlight bulbs," said the spokesperson. Viewpoint Laboratories is also marketing the TrueBlack Inspection Lamp for scientific and technical applications. "Because of the hands-free, open-access design, we see this product as very useful for people doing UV inspection as part of a materials handling workflow, for example checking conformal coatings on printed circuit boards, diamond fluorescence, or checking blacklight-reactive forensic marking taggants for jewelry, etc. We expect this product will also be well-received by hobbyists interested in fluorescent minerals and postage stamps, especially where there is a need for high-quality photography for online auction sites."
