Linlithgow Scotch Hop saved for 25th Year

After announcing that last year was to be the end of the Scotch Hop after 24 successful years, the event has been saved and will continue uninterrupted this year.

EDINBURGH, Scotland - July 15, 2014 - PRLog -- Under the expert guidance of John Carswell, a new committee has been busy planning the Scotch Hop for the 25th year of dancing at Linlithgow Palace. Lord of the Dance John Carswell, organiser of the Scotch Hop for the last 24 years, has helped set up the new group so he can take a step back from all the work involved.

The enormous amount of good will generated by John Carswell and his wife Janet, and countless other volunteers over the years, has created a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere for dancers and visitors of all ages.

It is hoped that everyone in Linlithgow will come along and show their support on at least one Wednesday evening this summer from 16th July to 13th August, and that many will be inspired to join in the dancing in this unique setting round the fountain in the Palace courtyard. In olden times, there would often have been festivals for local people, with music and dance held in such historic and significant buildings for the local people. The Scotch Hop is really just continuing that tradition in Linlithgow Palace courtyard.

The new committee is also most grateful to Allan and Janette Scott, the previous Treasurer and Secretary for their continuing support, as well as many of the volunteers from previous years. Over the last 24 years, the Scotch Hop has become such an inspiring and uplifting event for so many dancers from Linlithgow and beyond, with many regular visitors from overseas. The unique venue and great friendly atmosphere make the Scotch Hop a really special event every year.

The five-week Scotch Hop season starts on Wednesday, July 16, at 7.30pm in the Palace, and every subsequent Wednesday until August 13, 2014. Tickets can be bought at the door at £8.50 for adults and £6.50 for concessions, including tea and shortbread. Under 12s go free. Season tickets are £26 for adults and £20 for concessions. Low Port Centre will be used in adverse weather.
