Ride, win and make a difference

Actor Perry King to lead the annual “The Greatest Escape” motorcycle ride for mesothelioma Research on August 3

LOS ANGELES - July 10, 2014 - PRLog -- The Pacific Meso Center (PMC) at the Pacific Heart, Lung & Blood Institute (PHLBI) presents the second annual “The Greatest Escape” motorcycle ride benefiting victims of malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM), an asbestos-related cancer, affecting approximately 3,000 people in the U.S each year.

The event will kick off at 8:30 a.m. at Bartels’ Harley Davidson in Marina Del Rey, Calif. with registration, light Continental breakfast, Jack FM Radio, and lots of giveaways.

At 10 a.m. grand marshal Perry King, together with a host of celebrity riders and law enforcement officers, will escort the participants along the stunning Pacific Coast Highway to the rustic and historic Paramount Ranch in Agoura Hills, Calif.

At the Paramount Ranch, participants will enjoy a BBQ lunch and craft beer, a concert by The Walking Phoenixes, a Johnny Cash tribute band, vendors, line dancers, a live auction including an African Safari for two, and opportunity drawings with prizes valued at thousands of dollars. Riders can also enter their motorcycles in a celebrity-judged “Ride-In Bike Show” for a chance to win a trophy in various categories.

Sponsored by the Law Offices of Worthington & Caron, PC, all proceeds will benefit important stem cell research to find better treatments for mesothelioma, and improve the quantity and quality of life of those suffering with this devastating disease.

“The Greatest Escape is a beautiful and unique way to bring everyone together, have a wonderful time, and make a difference,” said the PMC executive director Clare Cameron. “Last year we generated more than $100,000 for our cutting-edge mesenchymal mesothelioma research program, and we are hoping to do even better this year!”

Participation fees are $40 for riders and passengers each, and include a ride pin, bandana, BBQ lunch, a neck cooler, entertainment and parking.  Non motorcycle riders are encouraged to join in the fun at the Paramount Ranch and tickets are $25 for lunch, entertainment and parking.
The Pacific Meso Center at the Pacific Heart, Lung & Blood Institute is a 501(c) (3) non-profit medical research institute that provides the promise of future treatment breakthroughs by exploring innovative ideas, educating the public on asbestos-related diseases and finding the best treatment options for newly diagnosed patients with MPM.
