July 6, 2014 - PRLog -- TheFitExpo™ San Jose, presented by Bodybuilding.com and sponsored by Subway Restaurants and Body Fortress, is returning to San Jose Saturday and Sunday, July 12 and 13, 2014, at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, 150 West San Carlos Street, San Jose, Halls 1-2.  Plenty of parking is available.

“After overwhelmingly doubling the attendance at last years TheFitExpo San Jose, we are excited to be returning for a third year with an even bigger event,” said Erin Ferries, Executive Director, TheFitExpo/National Fitness Productions.  “California is the center of the fitness world and it is exciting to see the Northern Cal community come together and support our event as we introduce new competitions, exhibits, and guest speakers each year.”

Several exciting attractions this year include:

California Affiliate Showcase “Battle of the Boxes” – This event brings boxes together (CrossFit gyms) from all over Northern California and the U.S. in order to challenge themselves and compete to see which gym will leave with the championship.  Over $5000 in cash and prizes will be awarded in the RX division.  (Register online in advance)

Functional Training Zone Featuring Battle of the Bar  – This competitive sports program has been created by Athletes for Athletes to elevate Calisthenics or street workout movements into a professional series of competitions in order to bring it to the forefront of competitive sports programs.

Extreme Tricking and Sports Karate  – Bay Area’s Team LoopKicks will host this event, performing their aesthetic blend of kicks, flips, twists and intricate groundwork. And they’ll not only hold battles (contests) but they will teach you how to do it, too!

Evolution Fitness Conference is open to all fitness enthusiasts and will offer cutting edge workshops and programming including Jillian Michaels BODYSHRED, Zumba, BeachBody PiYo Live, Barre Beyond, VivAsia Fitness Dance and more.  The conference will also provide progressive education for personal trainers and group fitness instructors who can earn up to 6 Continuing Education Units. (Separate fee to participate).

Several fan favorite competitions set to return include: Gracie Regionals 2014 (Jiu Jitsu Tournament), MET-Rx Odd Haugen Strength Classic (Strong Man Challenge, Grip Ironmind Record Breaker Grip Challenge, North American MAS Wrestling Continental Championship), 34rd Annual NPC San Jose Bodybuilding, Figure, Bikini & Physique Championships (separate ticket required), and Body Fortress USPA American Cup Powerlifting Championships.

TheFitExpo weekend will provide attendees with the opportunity to come face-to-face with top-tier fitness celebrities.   Slated to appear include:  the 3X and current Mr. Olympia Champion Phil Heath; the4X Mr. Olympia Champion Jay Cutler; Oakland’s own Kali Muscle, the successful author, actor, philanthropist, motivator and bodybuilder who has had over 16 million views on YouTube; the most photographed fitness personality in history and former Ms. Fitness America Sherry Goggin; Internet bodybuilding sensations Matt Ogus and Chris Lavado who provided truth about fitness to the masses; World Jump Rope Champion Shane Winsor; fitness model Paige Hathaway, who is a social media machine with 697,000 Instagram followers and 417,000 Facebook likes; and many more.

The sport of MMA returns to TheFitExpo for the third year with appearances by with some of the world’s top MMA athletes including:  Tito Ortiz (celebrity MMA Fighter and UFC Hall of Famer); Daniel Cormier (2X Olympian Wrestler and MMA Strkeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix Champion); Fabricio Werdum (current UFC Fighter); Alexis Davis (a Canadian Open Grappling Champion and current MMA Fighter who is #3 in official UFC women’s bantamweight rankings); Santa Cruz’s Luke Rockhold (a Strikeforce Middleweight Champion and current MMA Fighter); T.J. Dillashaw (current MMA Fighter from Northern California); renowned UFC referee and fighter Herb Dean who will host the MMA Programming; and Javier “Showtime” Vazquez (current MMA fighter).

The Paradise Warrior Reteat comes to TheFitExpo for its 10th Anniversary year.   This event is a melting pot of “warriors” of all ages, genders and disciplines who have the opportunity to learn the principles and strategies of fighting that can be applied to any type of combat or in day-to-day survival.  The instructors for this event will be current MMA greats Daniel Cormier, Fabricio Werdum, Alexis Davis, Luke Rockhold, and T.J. Dillashaw. (Separate ticketed event).

The Healthy Living Pavilion will feature a variety of seminars and healthy cooking demonstrations by leading experts plus invaluable tips on living longer and healthier.  Cooking demos include:  Chef Tyler Stone, Bravo’s Top Chef contestant who went to a local culinary school at age 11 and self-published his first cookbook at age 18; Santa Cruz-based Jill Troderman an award winning certified holistic nutritionist and educator who specializes in family and child nutrition; Silicon Valley’s Aaron Vaden, owner of an innovative healthy food truck and catering service called Lean On Wheels that specializes in gluten-free, daily-free all- natural meals as well as sports supplements in the Bay Area; and Paleo diet expert, Lisa Herndon, owner of Lisa’s Counter Culture will share her passion for putting a modern spin on the ancient dietary tradition of our ancestors.

Will your gym workouts pay off?  Attendees will also have the opportunity to compete in the MAXREP’s 4 CA$H Competition featuring separate Bicep Curl, Dips, Pull Ups and Push Up divisions.  NOR CAL’s Best Body Parts 4 CA$H will have attendees showing off to win Best Legs, Best Biceps, Best Glutes and Best Abs.

TheFitExpo adult tickets are $20 per day or $30 for the full weekend.  Children 12 years and under are $10 per day and children 6 and under are free.  Show hours are Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  Plenty of parking is available.  Discount coupons are available at participating Subway Restaurants, GNC locations and hundreds of local gyms.
