30th Rocky Mountain Book and Paper Fair Happens August 1-2, 2014 in Denver, ColoradoThe Largest Antiquarian Book Fair in the Rocky Mountain region is in Denver, Colorado this summer.
By: Rocky Mountain Antiquarian Booksellers Association The largest event of its kind in the rocky mountain region, the Rocky Mountain Book & Paper Fair also offers a wealth of vintage and rare paper goods, including postcards, maps, art prints, old travel brochures, posters, ads and ephemera from decades – and centuries – past. This year’s theme, “Collecting: Challenges Faced Building Collections to Serve Future Generations of Coloradans. (Friday 6:00pm). Keith Schrum, our Special Guest and curator for History Colorado Center will present his insights on collecting issues faced by the History Colorado Center. The Used and Antiquarian Book World. Past, Present and Future: An Australian Dealer's Point of View. (Saturday 1pm). Sally Burdon, owner and manager of The Old Bookroom, an antiquarian and secondhand book business in Canberra, Australia will speak on her experience with books and collecting from the perspective of time and changes she's observed. Preservation Station(Various times). Karen Jones and members of the Bookworkers Guild will demonstrate basic book care and handling and provide an opportunity to ask questions about collection care. Hosted annually by the Rocky Mountain Antiquarian Booksellers Association (RMABA), an organization of used and rare book dealers in the Rocky Mountain West, the fair has built a reputation as one of the nation’s leading antiquarian book fairs. Says chairperson Lois Harvey, “We work hard to make this a very enjoyable experience for both our exhibitors and attendees. The exhibitors often come so far and expend so much time and money to bring their best stuff to Denver, that we want to go the extra mile to make them feel welcome. And because we continue to attract the nation’s best booksellers, the fair continues to be a cultural boon to Colorado. The Rocky Mountain Book & Paper Fair takes place August 1-2 at the Denver Mart, I-25 at 58th Ave. (exit east).
