Steps Taxpayers Must Take Facing A Tax Dispute Has Been Uploaded By Nick Nemeth, Dallas Tax Attorney
Dallas, TX –July 3, 2014- Nick Nemeth, the head attorney at The Law Office of Nick Nemeth PLLC, has added to his homepage a brand new blog entry in which he identifies a number of critical first steps that taxpayers facing IRS controversy should take. The blog, titled “Facing IRS Controversy Can Be Terrifying – But You Must Take Action. Here’s Where to Start” explains that failing to take action can be disastrous.
Nick Nemeth writes, “An IRS dispute is every taxpayer’s worst nightmare. Don’t worry – we understand. We have seen firsthand how devastating an IRS dispute can be. The good news is that, no matter how grim your situation may appear, there is always a solution.
The key is that you don’t ignore the problem. Many taxpayers are so overwhelmed that they fail to take action, hoping that the situation will somehow resolve itself. But that never happens. Instead, you must take action. And here are five places to begin:
1) Gather and organize relevant documentation. Any dispute with the IRS boils down to records – and the more information you have at your disposal, the better your chances are for success. As soon as your dispute begins, obtain and organize all of the records that you can.
2) Only give the IRS what they ask for. When the IRS asks for information, give them what they’ve asked for – and nothing more! Sending them unsolicited information only invites additional scrutiny. It won’t help your cause, and it could make your situation much worse.
3) Create a game plan. Begin thinking about your options. Are you unable to pay the IRS what you owe? Can you arrange a payment plan? Do you qualify for IRS programs which could wipe away a portion of your debt? It’s important that you understand your options – and an IRS attorney can help you do just that!”
Nick Nemeth’s Tax Law Office is conveniently located in the metroplex of Dallas which allows his team of tax attorneys to provide excellent tax resolution services for residents and business owners.
