Sam Wild, a member of our collections team, will be on the three day adventure from London to Paris with 14 other cyclists in memory of their friend Private Robert Laws, aged 18, who died on the 4th of July 2009, in Afghanistan. Robert was part of the 2nd Battalion, Mercian Regiment and was killed in action in the Helmand Province. In his memory, the friends have decided to commemorate the anniversary by raising funds for Help for Heroes, the UK military charity that aims to provide needed support for injured or recovering members of the armed forces. The three days have a strict itinerary to adhere to, with Day 1 starting from the Tower Bridge to Dieppe, France with an overnight ferry (approx. 70 miles), Day 2 running from Dieppe to Boisemont (approx. 90 miles) and finally Day 3 arriving at the Eiffel Tower (approx. 40 miles). Sam is being sponsored by Controlaccount, and we look forward to supporting his European adventure and wish him the very best of luck. Please visit https://www.justgiving.com/ End
