Manufacturing Software Boosts Inventory Control at Platinum Vapor Control

WOODSTOCK, Vt. - June 26, 2014 - PRLog -- Texas-based manufacturer Platinum Vapor Control needed a way to extend its cloud-based accounting software from Intacct to gain better control over inventory. Platinum specifically wanted to better manage cost tracking, bar coding, and stock checking. Platinum selected MISys Manufacturing software, which seamlessly integrates with Intacct and enables them to take control of their inventory without additional data entry.

According to Platinum Vapor Control’s VP and CFO, Larry Mick, the company conducted extensive research on packages that claimed to interface with Intacct, prior to purchasing MISys. “Most would either track by unit without tracking costs, or would track unit and costs but wouldn’t communicate well with Intacct,” says Mick. “MISys was the only software that did both.”

Platinum Vapor Control builds vapor recovery systems for the oil and gas production industry. Though the company sells a basic assembly kit, many of their customers request custom kits. When a custom order comes in, the manufacturer must disassemble and rebuild the kit using alternate products.

“Before adding MISys, we were not able to add or subtract inventory from manufacturing orders when changes were made after the assembly," said Mick.  "The workaround we created did not pull inventory out of Intacct, which overstated the value of the inventory."

With MISys, Mick says that Platinum Vapor Control is enjoying better tracking for cost of goods sold and inventory. The company now has the ability to customize manufacturing orders by adding and deleting components as they need to and can easily transfer the information to their Intacct accounting system. Their assembly process has also been simplified through bar coding, receiving, and item transfers.
