SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - June 25, 2014 - PRLog -- Co-authors, Ben Casnocha, LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman, and Chris Yeh, have partnered once again in their latest book, The Alliance: Managing Talent in the Networked Age, hitting shelves July 8. The book builds off of Hoffman and Casnocha’s earlier “Tours of Duty,” concept, which debuted in a popular 2013 Harvard Business Review article.

Casnocha, a noted keynote speaker and tech entrepreneur, elaborates on the TOD concept,“If you think all your people will give you lifetime loyalty, think again. Sooner or later, most employees will pivot into a new opportunity.” With the average estimated lifespan of a new hire coming in at two years or less, these blunt realizations and honest conversations between employers and employees, acknowledging what each party expects out of the relationship, are encouraged by the authors.

The Alliance covers these topics in detail, along with trust in the workplace, employee retention, and network intelligence. Hoffman and Casnocha, co-authors of the earlier book The Start Up of You, emphasize the role external networks play and how employee alumni networks can expand the employee relationship even after he or she has left the organization.

While the traditional workplace model suggests that management should fear losing great employees, the authors explain that The Alliance brand of “healthy” attrition can be positive for both parties. “Organizations can’t guarantee job security, but can guarantee career security,” Casnocha states, alluding to the “alliance” that he recommends employers and employees adopt -- A pact built on mutual trust that invites growth elsewhere if an employee’s “tour” is fulfilled. By building networks that continue to invest in past employees’ careers, the organization can build new relationships that will mutually benefit business.

The Alliance is available for pre-order on Amazon and will be available through BigSpeak Speakers Bureau starting July 8. For more information, please visit
