Trissential’s Supply Chain Leaders Present at National Chief Supply Chain Officer Forum

Trissential's Supply Chain Management thought leaders share insights at the Eye For Transport Chief Supply Chain Officer conference.
June 25, 2014 - PRLog -- Rich Sherman, Principal Essentialist from Trissential’s National Supply Chain Practice delivered the keynote presentation at the opening of the CSCO Forum. Sherman’s key note titled “The Case for Innovation: Lead, Change, or Lose” addressed 10 megatrends driving the transformation of supply “chain” management to supply “network” management. Sherman introduced the concept of a Smart Supply Network 3.0 that leverages the technological capabilities of Web 3.0, the convergence of the Internet of People with the Internet of Things.

The conference was the Eye For Transport - EFT Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO) Forum which was collocated with the 3PL Summit at the Radisson Blu Aqua in Chicago from June 11-13. More than 600 senior supply chain executives attended this year.

In today’s competitive environment, companies are compelled to find innovative approaches to supply chain challenges. Great successes come from breakthrough ways of solving tough problems. Winners push beyond the customary rules; they recast the game according to their new rules. To address these challenges, Rich Sherman, Bob Sabath, and Rick Strahl from Trissential’s National Supply Chain Practice presented a pre-conference workshop on “Delivering Supply Chain Innovation by Breaking this Rules!” that was attended by more than 50 executives.  Critical elements impacting supply chain identified by the attendees were people, hiring and retaining the best talent, technology, adopting and adapting to new and emerging technology and data, how to get the most value from analytics.

As an active participant with EFT, Rich Sherman led an interactive session on adapting to unplanned events that are disruptive to supply network management, served as chairman for a number of the program sessions and delivered the final presentation of the summit on the topic of change leadership and its impact on operations. Following his presentation, Sherman was joined by Stephen Fraser, Managing Director, Barrington Capital Partners, and Sam Woodward, Chairman and CEO of Horizon Lines in a panel discussion on the different types of change faced by organizations.

Sherman was also interviewed by Supply Chain Brain’s Editor Emeritus, Jean Murphy about the Smart Supply Network 3.0 concept. The video interview will be available as part of Supply Chain Brain’s ongoing thought leadership video series toward the end of June or early July.
