Local and National Campgrounds Paying Too Much for Merchant Services

Targeted Merchant Solutions' analysis reveals some of the largest campgrounds and RV resorts in North America are overspending on their merchant services costs.
 
June 25, 2014 - PRLog -- In late 2013, Targeted Merchant Solutions performed an analysis for some of the largest campgrounds and RV Resorts in North America in regards to their merchant service costs.  From the seven resorts reviewed, it was determined that campgrounds are being severely overcharged.  In some cases rates to process transactions exceeded four percent.  On average Targeted Merchant Solutions was able to save these campgrounds 2.1% as well as offer consulting services for PCI compliance, EMV compatibility, and even local marketing.

“I was shocked when each statement review showed such substantial savings,” says Paisley Downing, Analyst II for Targeted Merchant Solutions.  “While many business owners push to find lower rates and a better experience, it seems that the camping/RV industry feels like their current rates are the best they can get.  In turn, they are missing out on a consultative relationship from a merchant service provider and spending far too much money.”

On top of high rates, Targeted Merchant Solutions determined that campgrounds are paying for all sorts of fees like non-PCI Compliance fees, monthly maintenance fees, and terminal fees, which are unnecessary.  “The problem is that owners do not realize these are avoidable fees,” Paisley states.  “In the statement analysis Targeted Merchant Solutions offered solutions to these fees, not more fees”—something many owners had not seen before.
