Robert is the Executive Chef and lead Culinary trainer at Harvest Cafe in Staten Island, NY. Harvest is a division of A Very Special Place which is a non profit organization that specializes in training adults with special needs the essential life skills they need to find a job in the community. Chef Rob also is host of a popular radio pod cast called “CHEWING THE FAT” with Big and Beefy. The show is all about the food. Food trends, Celebrity Chef interviews, Food News, Cookbooks, Recipes and tons of comedy is what Chewing The Fat is all about.

He has been in the restaurant business since he was about 16. Robert never attended culinary school, but used on the job training from various restaurants, deli's, catering halls and chef's to hone his multi cultural culinary stylings. After numerous years in Staten Island, Chef Burmeister decided to travel and become a seasonal chef for a stint, where he learned more and more tricks of the trade. In 1993 he decided to move back home and become Executive Chef at a friends restaurant where he eventually became a partner. It was there that he finally had a chance to run his own kitchen. From this point on Robert has been included in numerous newspaper and magazine articles. Later, he became involved in a few cooking competitions where he enjoyed the excitement of competitive cooking. Rob is a standing NYC ICS Chili, Salsa and BBQ Champion. Burmeister has also won many recipe contests and was an L.A. Times Biggest, Baddest Burger Winner.

In 2009,Robert was called to be part of Food Network's new Competition Show called "CHOPPED". Although not victorious, Chef Rob came in at a close second, but won the hearts of America. The fans of "CHOPPED" voted Chef Rob first place when asked who they thought should have won the competition. Robert got 84% of the fan favorite vote.. Chef Rob  has been cast for several cooking shows and commercials. He has also placed second in The Search for the Next Pork Personality with Guy Fieri.

As of 2013 Chef Rob has been on many more popular food realated shows as well as other shows. He can be seen on Restaurant Stakeout, S.I. Cakes on We Channel, local news and on a great episode of Alton Browns “CUTTHROAT KITCHEN” where he reigned victorious with a $5,600.00 purse. The episode is titled “FOUL PLAY”. TUNE IN SUNDAY NIGHTS AT 10 PM. Chef Burmeister has also been seen on late night talk shows such as Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Burmeister loves the camera and cooking so much that he has been slotted to take part in many more cooking shows. STAY TUNED!!!!!
