New York Vocalist Steven Maglio Continues to Swing and Sing Sinatra Style!
For almost a decade, Mr. Maglio's long-running nightclub act "Sounds of Sinatra" swings every Saturday evening at the swanky venue,The Carnegie Club (156 West 56th Street, New York City, 212.957.9676)
With two shows back-to-back ("Sinatra: Remembering The Sands" at 8:30PM, followed by "Sinatra Songs" at 10:30pm) he delights the upscale crowd with timeless and entertaining tunes, all accompanied by the world-renowned 11-piece Stan Rubin Orchestra.
Through the years Mr. Maglio honed his musical craft, performing for a variety of prominent celebrities. Both notable personalities and critics have graciously commented about his distinctive vocal gift.
Celebrated singer Vic Damone expressed "Steven sounds just like Sinatra's records." Song stylist Connie Francis remarked "He's great! And with the big band, it's like being back at The Copa!" Charming Actor Tony Danza revealed , after hearing Steven sing in honor of Frank Sinatra's birthday at Patsy's Italian Restaurant, "I like Steven's singing because he pays attention to those minor details that make a song popular, and then put those details into his own renditions. That's one of the marks of a great singer."
Recently Michael Dale of Broadwayworld.com noted, "What's most impressive about Steven Maglio is that even while attributing a singer he so obviously admires, he manages to make the evening his own. You may walk in because of Frank Sinatra, but you'll leave with an appreciation for a terrific entertainer named Steven Maglio." And Sidney Zion, New York Daily News columnist and friend of Frank Sinatra, has reported, "If Frank Sinatra could have seen the show you just did, you would be the one he'd choose to continue singing his songs."
In addition to his on-going schedule of performances, Mr. Maglio is currently in the studio recording an exciting new CD, "You Belong To Me," due to be released later this summer. This heartfelt collection features romantic and touching tunes such as "Good Morning Heartache," Ain't Misbehavin,"
His previous CD "Songs for Sinatra Lovers!" includes 11 Sinatra hits, featuring favorites such as "Come Dance with Me, " You Make Me Feel So Young," "Put Your Dreams Away," and "Nancy" (with accompaniment by superb guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli). The project was produced by Bill Gulino and Jay Dittamo with Music Directors Mark Walsh and Bill Gulino. The song "Nancy" was broadcast on WHLI Radio as well other standard and jazz internet radio stations.
Mr. Maglio has appeared as a guest vocalist with Deana Martin (in the Deana Martin Variety Show conducted by Vincent Falcone), as well as the main attraction at The Rainbow Room, The Blue Note, The Sands Hotel in Atlantic City, The Paris Hotel in Las Vegas, and many more.
