The Good The Bad and the Uglyt of Internet Marketing in America by - American Internet Design
The ups and downs of dealing with a website development team who does not understand search engine optimization
As a Professional Website designer and someone who has spent thousands of dollars on so called web designers i feel that it is imperative that the development of a website and search engine optimization go hand in hand. If a designer does not have an understanding of SEO how can he make you a website that is internet friendly? It is impossible and unless you plan on using your website as an electronic business card which i do not suggest that you do, most people will want to make money and have every intention of recouping there funds by generating new business from the website that they create.
Sometimes in high competition market places, companies need to develop more then the one basic site that they feel should be sufficient. You see in high competition industries there will be numerous companies fighting for a position on the front page of a search engine. Whats more important to understand, is that in order to maintain a position as no one can determine what the future holds or what Google will like, it is imperative that we try to occupy as much real estate as possible. Their are a few reasons for this. First The more positions that you occupy , the more chances you will have of relieving a call. Next your competitors goals are to occupy the front page and push you out. It may be possible to push out one site, but what are the chances of them pushing out 4 or 5. The answer slim and none, we in essence want to be our own competition creating what i like to call a monopoly on the market that you represent and when this is done properly it creates mass hysteria and the competition will usually give up.
Developing a proper SEO campaign if done professionally can become expensive and will usually be based off of the market that you are in and the sooner that you grasp onto your position the less costly it will be as it is easier to develop your position early on.
