June 20, 2014 - PRLog -- The staff at NetSearch411 would like to remind the public about a recent cell phone scam that started a few months ago as it  continues to be a problem. Over the last six months, the Better Business Bureau has received thousands of complaints of cell phone owners receiving unauthorized charges on their cell phone bill.  This recent scam is initiated as a cell phone owner receives a phone call that only rings one time.  The cell phone owner notices the missed call on their cell phone and returns the call.  However, they are unknowingly returning the call to a phone number that charges by the minute to place the call resulting in enormous charges to their cell phone bill

These calls are typically from the area codes of 876, 284, 809, or 473 areas.  However, not all calls from these area codes are scandalous.  As these predators become more noticed, there could be other area codes to add to this list as well.  This process is called "cramming" and is still occurring to unsuspecting cell phone owners across the U.S. at a growing rate.  Cell phone owners who receive a call from these area codes or better yet any unknown phone number should not answer the call.  If it is really important, they will leave a voicemail. These scammers typically do not leave voicemails but just place a call, let it ring once and wait for you to call back. Anyone receiving a suspicious or missed call should first conduct a reverse phone search ( on the phone number through a reliable people search engine that includes cell phone numbers such as  It is also a great idea to make a habit of monitoring your phone bill each month to ensure there are no unauthorized charges.  If you do find unauthorized charges on your phone bill contact your cell phone provider first and report these charges.  Most times, if you can prove they were in fact unauthorized, your provider will remove the charges from your bill.  After reporting to your cell phone provider, you should also contact the Better Business Bureau in your state. is releasing this information as a public service announcement as they are an advocate of ongoing cell phone number privacy ( is an email and cell phone number search engine providing its members with privacy features to control the release of private contact information only to desired users. provides a completely free membership allowing members to be found on the internet while still maintaining a sense of privacy.  The permission based people search engine allows members to deny or allow the release of private contact information such as a cell phone number or email address.  For more information, visit
