SAN ANTONIO - June 20, 2014 - PRLog -- Auctioneers from all over the state of Texas will network and mingle with Auction Celebrities for four days during the 58th Annual Texas State Convention held at the Sheraton Gunter Hotel at 205 E. Houston St., San Antonio, TX, June 26-29, 2014.  The Texas Auctioneers Association's current president, Craig Meier, star of the Sportsman Channel's Heli-Hunter series, is among the names that TV auction-aficionados may recognize.  Other notables will include Walt Cade, Storage Wars Texas; and Spanky Assister, Lead Auctioneer for Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction; along with other nationally-ranked champion auctioneers. Many of these champions will be in attendance as the new 2014 Texas Champion Auctioneer is decided.

The annual convention allows licensed professional Auctioneers to obtain continuing education required for licensure in the field of Auctioneering.  In addition to the educational opportunities afforded by the lecture sessions, the convention hosts the highlight of the annual gathering, the Texas Auctioneers Championship contests.  Auctioneers and Ringmen compete live before a panel of judges, their peers and the local public.  Contestants are judged for their overall talent and abilities in poise, voice control, clarity, speed and rhythm, bid escalation, as well as bidder encouragement and item descriptions.  Winners are selected in the Rookie and Senior division based on Friday night’s contest performance. The semi-finalists for Champion Auctioneer are further narrowed down and compete live for the championship titles during a Saturday banquet.  The Friday night championship contest event is free and open to the public.  The contest begins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27; and doors open early for registration and preview.  Further information on the events is available at the TAA Web site: www.texasauctioneers.org
